Unable to get proper treatment, patient from Delhi comes to Silchar Green Heals by air ambulance

April 23: Silchar or for that purpose, the people of entire Barak Valley often goes out of the state for proper treatment at Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai or South India. Many a times, critical patients of brain stroke or any severe neurological disorders are taken by air ambulance to major hospitals in the country. However, on Friday, the reverse happened in Silchar. This is probably for the first time in the history of Barak Valley that a serious patient from Delhi failed to get the desired treatment over there due to too much rush of Covid cases. Finding no way out, the patient was brought by air ambulance to Silchar and was admitted at Green Heals Private Hospital.

The relatives of the patient who came from Delhi to Silchar for treatment informed that since many days, the 74 years old lady was suffering due to dementia. (Dementia is not a specific disease, it is a group of conditions characterised by impairment of at least two brain functions, such as memory loss and judgement). The family members tried their level best to avail proper treatment of the old lady, but due to worsening Covid scenario, the hospitals of the National Capital Territory (NCT) were unable to give the desired treatment.  Then they came in touch with a few doctors whom they knew personally. In such a situation, they advised to continue the treatment by keeping the patient at home.

However, on Wednesday, the condition of the patient deteriorated due to brain hemorrhage. Finding no way out, they contacted with Dr. Tanushree Deb Gupta of Silchar. The patient happened to be the aunt of Dr. Tanushree Deb Gupta. She assured them of all help. On getting her assurance, the relatives of the patient took the decision of bringing her to Silchar for treatment by air ambulance.

On Friday afternoon, the air ambulance reached Silchar. Immediately, the patient was taken to Green heals Pvt Hospital, Silchar. Informing this, Rudra Narayan Gupta, Managing Director of the hospital said that the treatment of the patient has started. He expressed confidence that as per the preliminary reports of the doctors over here, the patient’s condition is stable. He was hopeful that the patient will get cured very soon.
