Ahead of Assembly polls, CM Sonowal to inaugurate Mini Secretariat in Barak on 27 Feb
Feb. 25: A Mini Secretariat in Barak Valley has been one of the prime aspirations of the people of this region. Finally, after overcoming a lot of hurdles, the valley is all ready for the formal inauguration of the Mini Secretariat. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the Mini Secretariat on 27 February.
The Chief Minister will be on a visit to Barak Valley on Friday evening. On Saturday, he will formally inaugurate the Mini Secretariat in a ceremonial event at DSA, Silchar. This was informed by Shekhar Dey, OSD to the Chief Minister. As per sources, the Chief Minister is supposed to declare a series of developmental projects for the three districts of Barak Valley. He is supposed to inaugurate the functioning of 6 departments of the Mini Secretariat of Barak Valley. The Chief Minister will then visit Karimganj, where he will be inaugurating a power sub-station along with other programmes. He is also supposed to unveil the statue of BJP leader Rathindra Bhattacharjee.
It needs mention here that Assam government on 21 February notified the mini secretariat for Barak Valley. “In the interest of Public Service and to bring the administration to the doorstep of the citizens and for execution, supervision and monitoring of all developmental works of Barak Valley, the Government of Assam has notified a Mini Secretariats, Barak Valley at Silchar,” said an official communique. The CoM had decided to start the Mini Secretariat in Barak Valley (Silchar) with six departments: Personnel, R &DM, GAD, Agriculture, Fisheries, AH&V Dept.
