After Kalapahar Hospital, state govt now to convert Jalukbari Ayurvedic College to COVID-19 hospital
May 23: The constantly increasing number of COVID-19 patients in the state has baffled the government. Apart from Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) & Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH), Guwahati, the Kalapahar Hospital in Guwahati has now been fully converted into a functional COVID-19 facility. 20 doctors, 30 nurses, 25 grade-IV staff and 9 cleaners among others have already joined duties. The hospital was made available from 6 PM of May 23.

Apart from these 3 hospitals, in wake of rapidly rising number of coronavirus patients, the state government is contemplating to convert Jalukbari Ayurvedic College as full fledged COVID-19 hospital. In this connection, State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Minister of Health Pijush Hazarika and other top officials visited the Ayurvedic College on Saturday. Later on in a tweet, the minister informed that a decision of converting the facility as COVID-19 hospital would be taken soon.
