দরগাকোণায় দুর্ঘটনাগ্রস্ত তুহিনার গাড়ি, বরাতজোরে রক্ষা
Advocate Tuhina met with accident, escaped unhurt by luck

৪ অক্টোবর : বরাতজোরে এক বড়সড় দুর্ঘটনা থেকে প্রাণে বাঁচলেন শিলচরের মহিলা আইনজীবী তুহিনা শর্মা। দরগাকোনায় সড়কের মোড় ঘুরতে গিয়ে বিপরীত দিক থেকে আসা একটি ক্রুজার এর সঙ্গে মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ হয় আইনজীবীর গাড়িটি। দুর্ঘটনায় গাড়িটি সড়ক থেকে গড়িয়ে প্রায় ২২ ফুট নিচে গিয়ে পড়ে। গাড়িটি দুমড়ে-মুচড়ে গেলেও অক্ষত অবস্থায় উদ্ধার করা হয় আইন আইনজীবী শর্মাকে।

বৃহস্পতিবার আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে এক বৈঠকে যোগ দিতে গিয়েছিলেন আইনজীবী তুহিনা শর্মা। বৈঠক শেষ করে বিকেল সাড়ে চারটে নাগাদ তিনি যখন নিজে গাড়ি চালিয়ে শিলচর ফিরছিলেন, তখনই দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানিয়েছেন, দরগাকোণার দিক থেকে শিলচর অভিমুখী প্রথম মোড় ঘোরার সময়ই বিপরীত দিক থেকে আসা একটি ক্রুইজারের সঙ্গে আইনজীবীর মারুতি গাড়ির সংঘর্ষ হয়। এতে মারুতি ছিটকে রাস্তা থেকে নিচে হাওরে গিয়ে পড়ে। ঘটনার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আশপাশের লোকজন দৌড়ে গিয়ে গাড়ির সামনের কাঁচ ভেঙে তুহিনাকে উদ্ধার করা হয়।

তুহিনার গাড়ির ঠিক পেছনেই ছিল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইতিহাস বিভাগের প্রধান সুদেষ্ণা পুরকায়স্থের গাড়িটি। রাস্তায় লোকজনও ছিলেন। সবার চোখের সামনেই দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে। এলাকাবাসী এই দুর্ঘটনার জন্য যাত্রীবাহী গাড়িগুলোর বেপরোয়া চালনাকে দায়ী করেন। তাছাড়া এই মোড়টিতে এর আগেও বেশ কয়েকটি দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে। এমনকি এই স্থানে প্রাণহানির ঘটনা পর্যন্ত ঘটেছে।

October 4: Advocate Tuhina Sharma of Silchar had a narrow escape when her car met with a major accident on Thrusday. The accident occurred at the 1^st turning, while she was coming down from Dargakona. Her car had a head on collision with a cruiser. As a result of this collision, her car fell down on the gorge at around 22 feet below. Though her car is beyond recognition, but she was lucky to survive unhurt.

On Thursday, she was on her way back to Silchar from Assam University when she met with the accident. She was driving the car herself. Eye witnesses have revealed that a cruiser took wrong turning and approached towards her car and had a head to head collision. As a result, her Maruti SUV car almost flew down. At once, local people rushed below, broke open the front glass and rescued her unhurt.

Prof. Sudheshna Purkayastha, Head, Department of History of Assam University was on her car just a few feet behind Tuhina’s car. The accident occurred in the twinkling of an eye. Local people held the rash driving of the passenger vehicles responsible for such accidents. In that particular turning, several other accidents also took place in the past. A few persons even lost their life in these accidents.
