A district level meeting on “Amrit Kalash Yatra” held at Silchar
Way2barak, September 19 : A district level meeting on “Amrit Kalash Yatra” as a part of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav’ initiative was organised by the Cachar District Administration at Banga Bhawan, Silchar today. The District Commissioner, Cachar chaired the meeting, attended by distinguished guests including Hon’ble MLA Lakhipur, Hon’ble MLA Silchar, Hon’ble MLA Udharband, political leaders, and community representatives.
In the meeting video clips of Mitti Anthem, speech of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam were played. Discussion on selection and role of Youth volunteers, SHG/Citizens/Organisation for collection of Mitti/rice from household was held.
The purpose of the Amrit Kalash Yatra is to commemorate the martyrs of India’s struggle for independence and follow their path. It is set to begin on September 20, 2023, in Assam and conclude in New Delhi on October 28, 2023. During the Yatra, soil will be collected from each household in every village by identified Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in earthen pots. Leaflets about the Yatra will be distributed to every household, and inhabitants will be encouraged to take the “Panch Pran Pledge.” The goal is to engage the community and create a festive atmosphere of public participation.
The collected soil and rice will be used to build the Amrit Vatika” at the National War Memorial, symbolizing “One India, Best India,” as emphasized by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The event attracted members from various political parties, social workers, media journalists, government officials and citizens, all contributing to this significant initiative.
