3 Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

61 patients in ICU, 11 in ventilator support & 82 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 26: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 25 June to 5 PM on 26 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 01 is from Karimganj district, 01 from Cachar and 01 from Hailakandi district. The deceased were identified as:

  • Radhapati Lohar (65) from Loairpowa in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 24 June. He, however, passed away at 6.45 PM on 25 June.
  • Chandra Mohan Singha (72) from Bilaipur in Hailakandi district took admission at SMCH on 21 June. He breathed his last at 11 AM on 26 June.
  • Subodh Chandra Bhattacharjee (86) from Malugram, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 19 June. The patient died at 4.15 PM on 26 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 26 June, there were 138 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 61 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 77 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 82 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 09 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 15 of them were discharged.
