June 10: Though the Assam government has already made it clear that the Class X and XII Final examinations will be held in the state, yet there seems to be different views regarding the situation in which the exams will be conducted. Earlier, state Education Minister, Dr Ranoj Pegu said that the said exams will be held only if the positivity rate goes down below 1%. However, on Thursday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that examinations will be conducted if the positivity rate in the state drops below 2%.
The Chief Minister further went on to say that if the positivity rate remains over 2% exams will be canceled. The date of the examination will be decided in the next couple of days. The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference held to mark the completion of the first 30 days of his government. He clarified, “We cannot take risk with the lives of students. So if the positivity rate is above two per cent on July 1, the board examinations will be cancelled.” In such a circumstance, if the examinations are cancelled, the schools will be directed to conduct the evaluation for which the modalities will be worked out, added the Chief Minister.
The CM further stated that the question papers in all possibility will mainly be objective type and simple, so that anybody little serious may even score full marks.
