Leaders of recognised parties & journalists arriving from outside Assam for counting exempted from home isolation

May 1: In connection to the State Assembly Election, 2021 the following categories: leaders of recognized political parties and accredited journalists arriving in Assam from outside the State, are exempted from compulsory Home Quarantine but will have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). An order to this effect was issued by the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam on 1 May, 2021.

The order stated, “In partial modification of this Department’s earlier Order No HLB.158/ 2020/168 dated 1st May 2021 exempting (1) leaders of recognised political parties and (2) accredited journalists arriving in Assam from outside the State, in connection with the election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, from undergoing compulsorily home quarantine for seven days. The Government in Health & Family Welfare Department has further decided that such persons need to undergo only Rapid Antigen Test on arrival in Assam.”
