46 candidates in fray in Hailakandi election district

March 17: Two Independent candidates withdrew their candidature leaving 46 candidates in the fray in the three LACs of Hailakandi election district. The two Independent candidates who withdrew from the electoral battle for 7 Katlicherra LAC here on Wednesday are Niren Das and Binoy Bhushan Nath.

Nominations papers of three independent candidates from 6 Hailakandi LAC were rejected after scrutiny on Monday. With today’s withdrawal there are 14 candidates in the fray for 7 Katlicherra LAC, 19 candidates for 8 Algapur LAC and 13 candidates for 6 Hailakandi LAC.
