যানজট নিয়ন্ত্রণে জেলাশাসক, তুলে দিলেন এনআরসি সহায়তা কেন্দ্রও

২৬ নভেম্বর : হঠাৎই জেলাশাসকের রক্তচক্ষু দেখল অফিসপাড়া। কার্যালয়ের সামনে যানজট দেখে নিজেই নেমে পড়লেন উচ্ছেদ অভিযানে। আর প্রথমেই কোপ পড়ল তাঁর কার্যালয়ের সামনে থাকা একটি এনআরসি সহায়তা কেন্দ্রে। প্রায় রেগে গিয়ে জেলাশাসক এনআরসি সহায়তা কেন্দ্রটি কার অনুমতি নিয়ে বসানো হয়েছে, তা জানতে চান। কড়া ভাষায় বললেন, রাস্তার পাশে কেন্দ্র খুলে এভাবে যানজট সৃষ্টি করা চলবে না। এরপর জেলাশাসকের রক্তচক্ষুর সামনে পড়তে হয়েছে একটি মোবাইল সিম বিক্রয়ের অস্থায়ী কেন্দ্র এবং কয়েকটি ফুটপাতের দোকানকে।

এদিকে ঘটনার প্রায় সঙ্গে সঙ্গে জেলাশাসক এ নিয়ে টেলিফোনে কথা বলেন পুলিশ সুপারের সঙ্গে। জানা গেছে, পুলিশ সুপারের নির্দেশেই তড়িঘড়ি সেখানে এসে হাজির হয় পুলিশ বাহিনী। পরে পুলিশ জেলাশাসকের কার্যালয়ের সামনে থাকা কয়েকটি চায়ের দোকানও তুলে দেয়। প্রসঙ্গত, শিলচর বাণীপাড়ার নেতাজি সুভাষচন্দ্র বসু সেবা সংস্থা নামে একটি এনজিও জেলাশাসকের কার্যালয়ের সামনে এনআরসি সহায়তা কেন্দ্র খুলেছিল। সাধারণ মানুষের সুবিধার কথা চিন্তা করে গত সেপ্টেম্বর মাস থেকেই সংগঠনটি বিভিন্ন সময়ে এনআরসি সহায়তা কেন্দ্র চালু রেখেছে।

অন্যদিকে এ ঘটনার পর সেবা সংস্থার পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়, এনআরসি সংক্রান্ত বিষয়ে সাধারণ মানুষকে সাহায্যের জন্য তারা শহরের অন্য জায়গায় এভাবে সহায়তা কেন্দ্র চালু রাখবেন।

November 26: Normally regarded as a very cool and calm person, but suddenly finding traffic congestion in front of his office, he rained anger and himself launched an eviction drive. Yes, he is the top administrative officer of the district, Dr. S.Lakshmanan, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. He first ordered a NRC help booth set up outside his office to be removed from there. Dr. Lakshmanan wanted to know with whose permission the said NRC help booth was set up there. In strict terms, he declared that he would not allow the booth to function there resulting in traffic chaos. He then evicted a small temporary stall selling SIM cards of cell phone. A few vendors selling commodities on the footpath were also ordered to vacate the place.

Meanwhile, almost after carrying on this eviction drive, Dr.S.Lakshmanan had a talk with the Superintendent of Police over telephone. It was learnt that on the direction of the Police Super, police forces reached the spot instantly. Later on, a few tea stalls set outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner were also evicted. It needs mention here that a NGO from Banipara Silchar, named, ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Seva Sangstha’ had set up a NRC help booth in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Taking into consideration, the problems of people whose names were not included in the final draft of NRC, the said NGO from time to time helped those people through their help booth since last September.

On the other hand, after this incident occurred, the members of ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Seva Sangstha’  informed that they will continue to operate their NRC help booths set up in other places of Silchar town to help the common people.
