11 tests +ve in Cachar on Tuesday, one more dies at SMCH
Active cases 161 in Cachar
Dec. 8: On Tuesday, a total of 11 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 999 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 10 persons were found positive, whereas 01 was detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Tuesday night.
With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 11,046. Further, a total of 10,848 patients were discharged in the district as of now. Cachar registered a total of 37 COVID-19 deaths till now. At present, there are 161 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 24 persons were found positive in Cachar on Monday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, Throat swab of another 570 persons were collected. 146 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 tested positive. Further, 383 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 01 were found positive.
Apart from this, no new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours but 02 were discharged. At present, there are 19 active patients at SMCH, out of which 05 are in semi-critical stage. A total of 09 patients are admitted in ICU, whereas none of them are put under oxygen support or kept in ventilator support.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patient died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. The deceased was identified as Priyo Kr Singha from Jiribam. Infact, he was in critical condition for a few days at SMCH. He was admitted at SMCH on 1 December. He lost his life at 10.20 PM on 7 December, 2020. As per SMCH sources, the cause of his death was ascertained to be Covid Pneumonia and Septicemia.
