Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ renamed as ‘Laxmii’ after legal notice by Karni Sena
Oct. 29: The title of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Laxmmi Bomb has been changed to Laxmii. As per reports, a legal notice was sent to the makers of the film on behalf of Shri Rajput Karni Sena. According to the notice, the film’s title was considered to be disrespectful to Goddess Laxmi, thereby hurting Hindu community’s sentiments. The notice also demanded a change in the film’s title and said that the current one sends out a wrong message to the society.
The horror comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani was directed by Raghava Lawrence was supposed to be released on May 22, but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film Laxmii is now set to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on 9 November. In the film, which is a remake of the Tamil film ‘Muni 2: Kanchana’, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the role of a man who has been possessed by the spirit of a transgender woman.
As per media reports, Laxmmi Bomb went for its censor certificate on Thursday and after a discussion with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the makers decided to change the title to Laxmii, in consideration of the sentiments of its viewers.
