Assam Police SI scam: Top cop Kumar Sanjit Krishna sent for 5 days CID remand

Oct. 16: The criminal investigation department (CID) of Assam Police on Thursday night arrested former Police Super of Karimganj, Kumar Sanjit Krishna for his alleged involvement in Assam police recruitment scam. He was produced at the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on Friday. The court sent him for 5 days of CID remand. Along with Sanjit Krishna, Rubul Hazarika and Saroj Sharma were also sent to CID custody for five days.

Krishna, who was posted as Karimganj SP, was transferred to Barpeta as SP of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) after his name cropped up in the recruitment scam. Sanjit Krishna had been allegedly absconding since Tuesday after he was interrogated by CID. On Thursday, Krishna appeared before the police at the Assam Police headquarters in Ulubari, where he was questioned by ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh.
