Poshan Maah Abhiyan at Dinonathpur Bagicha in Cachar
Sept. 13: As part of ongoing Poshan Maah, a programme was organised in convergence with training and development, PHED, Social Welfare department at 652 number Hatimara L.P School at Dinonathpur Bagicha under Kalain Block on Sunday. MLA, Katigorah, Amar Chand Jain and Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli jointly inaugurated a water purity testing booth with a vision to free germ by testing the quality of water at Adarsh Gram Yojna Village.
Deputy Commissioner Jalli requested all the villages to come forward for testing of water of different sources like ring well, pond water and supply water also.Jalli said under the Adarsh Gram Yojana, the village should be developed as an ideal village so that it becomes an example to other villages and it is the responsibility of every villager to make it a developed village.
She said the entire month of September is being celebrated as Poshan Maah and emphasised on consuming nutritious food especially lactating mothers and malnourished children. She also urged everyone to maintain the COVID protocols by wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing in the wake of the pandemic situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Katigorah MLA, Jain said the village should be brought under geo tagging and requested the Deputy Commissioner to ensure actual beneficiaries derive the benefits of widow pension and old age pension.
Referring to the Arunodoi scheme, Jain said that the benefit of this scheme is only for those women who are widow or divorced and are currently living in their father’s house and also women who are unmarried and differently abled. The MLA also requested for opening up of Aadhar centre in each ward of the village to facilitate the distribution of Aadhar card.
Block Development Officer, Kalain, Nandalal Gowala said that Dinonathpur Bagicha under Kalain Block has been taken up as an ideal village under the Adarsh Gram Yojana and the government has allocated Rs 5 crore for the project for its development out of which Rs 50 lakh has already been sanctioned as first installment. He mentioned that Rs.10 lakh has been earmarked for the construction of entry gate of the village, Rs.10 lakh for the construction of a community hall and Rs.30 lakh for the installation of 60 solar lights in the village.
Later, foundation stone of entry gate of Adarsh Gram Yojna Village was laid by MLA Jain and Deputy Commissioner Jalli in presence of district heads, SPO Ruli Dolagaphu,T&D, District Social Welfare Officer Saswati Shome, JE, Sailesh Kumar Singh, District Coordinator, Poshan Abhiyan, Nurul Hasan Chowdhury, GP president and local villagers. Meanwhile, a Poshan Vatika namely nutri garden was also jointly inaugurated by MLA Jain and Deputy Commissioner Jalli.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officials and other stakeholders to develop such Poshan Vatika in every village and to take care of it by the locals and Anganwadi workers. Jalli appreciated the work of Poshan Abhiyan initiated by the Social Welfare department, Cachar and expressed her satisfaction. Poshan Vatika is a source of fresh and healthy food for children and expectant mothers. The families are encouraged to go in for cultivating different vegetables, mostly local varieties, and fruits in their backyard spaces, primarily for home consumption, and are provided with critical inputs, including seeds.
