40 ventilators sent to SMCH from PM CARES Fund: MP Rajdeep Roy

Sept. 12: The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has made it clear the necessity of proper treatment facilities. This has also exposed the skeleton health service facilities prevalent in Barak Valley. It’s indeed very difficult for a single medical college to cater to the health care needs of three districts and also to some neighbouring states. Recently, after the outbreak of coronavirus, the shortage of ICU and ventilators was profoundly felt.

However, the silver lining is that another 120 beds will be added in the COVID Ward of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This will include 40 new ICU beds. On Saturday, SMCH received 40 ventilators, which were purchased and sent from the PM CARES Fund created during the pandemic. This would indeed help in the capacity enhancement of SMCH. Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy went in person at SMCH on Saturday along with the Principal, Vice Principal and doctors of the college and took stock of the 40 ventilators.

In a tweet on Saturday, Dr. Rajdeep Roy wrote, ” PM CARES sends 40 ventilators to #SMCH as part of capacity build up. 120 beds to be added for #COVID patients which includes 40 ICU beds. #infrastructure upgradation. Thank you @narendramodi @drharshvardhan @sarbanandsonwal @himantabiswa.”
