New +ve cases in Cachar goes down to 65 on Saturday; 1 from Silchar dies at SMCH
COVID-19 district tally reaches 7670
Sept. 12: On Saturday, the number of novel coronavirus patients came down once again. Only 65 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 972 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 57 were found positive, whereas only 08 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7670 till now. It needs mention here that 76 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.
Apart from this, only 01 person died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) in the last 24 hours. The deceased was identified as Sudhangshu Sekhar Das (62), an inhabitant of 2nd Link Road, Silchar. He breathed his last at 5.15 PM on 11 September. His case was referred to State Death Audit Board, as per protocol for confirmation.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, 172 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 472 persons were collected. 1075 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 25 of them tested positive. Further, 155 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 06 were found positive.
Apart from this, 12 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 07 were discharged. At present, there are 199 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 31 patients are now in critical condition. Another 49 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 110 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 214 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 1 person from Cachar district died at SMCH. As of now, there were 129 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 129 deaths, 52 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
