NIT Silchar organises 1 week online International Faculty Development Programme

August 25: One week online International Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Machine Learning and Computer Vision: Applications, Research Challenges (MLCV 2020) is organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Silchar under TEQIP-III during August 24-28, 2020 as twinning activity with Gauhati  University Institute of Science and Technology, Assam (GUIST).

The Chief Guest of the FDP was Prof. Sivaji Bandyopadhyay, Director NIT Silchar & Patron MLCV 2020
address the virtual gathering by stating that research and innovation are two key factors which NIT Silchar put forward to identify in Research and teaching-learning process. He also explained that how Machine learning and Computer Vision can help the real world problems in every aspect. He mentioned that every dark side (COVID 19 pandemic) has positive implications, where 2784 participants would not been possible to be physically present in this FDP, which is record breaking (of NIT Silchar itself) participation from India and abroad.

The other guest present online were Prof. Manab Deka, Director Gauhati University Institute of Science & Technology, Assam(GUIST) and Prof. Rajni Jindal, Professor & HOD(CSE), DTU Delhi. The main objective of the FDP is to explore Machine Learning and Computer Vision techniques and how analytically evaluates the Machine Learning applications in computer vision and predicts future prospects.

The International Experts who graced this online FDP are: Dr. Peter Ho Chiung Ching, Sunway University, Malaysia and Dr. Ting Choo Yee, MultiMedia University, Malaysia. From India, also, a host of scholars graced the FDP. They are Prof. P.K.Das, IIT Guwahati, Prof. R.K.Agrawal, JNU, Delhi, Prof. Rajni Jindal, DTU Delhi, Dr. Vineeth N Balasubramanian, IIT Hyderabad, Prof. Nidul Sinha, NIT Silchar, Dr. Pinki Roy, NIT Silchar, Dr. Saroj Kumar Biswas, NIT Silchar, Dr. Tripti Goel, NIT Silchar and Jyoti Prakash Medhi, GUIST, Assam.
