Doctor from Silchar dies of COVID-19 in Kolkata on Wednesday noon

১৫ জুলাই: না, লড়াইয়ে পারলেন না৷ বুধবার বেলা একটা নাগাদ শেষনিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন শিলচরের প্রবীণ চিকিৎসক অমরেশ দাস৷  ডিসেম্বরে সস্ত্রীক কলকাতায় গিয়েছিলেন তিনি৷ দুই মেয়েরই বাড়ি সেখানে৷ পরিকল্পনা ছিল, মার্চ-এপ্রিলে ফিরে আসবেন৷

করোনার জেরে লকডাউনে আটকে পড়ায় ফেরাই হল না আর৷ রবিবার তাঁর দেহে করোনার সংক্রমণ ধরা পড়ে৷ ভর্তি করা হয়েছিল কলকাতা মেডিক্যাল কলেজে৷ সেখানেই আজ প্রাণ হারান শিলচর জেল হাসপাতালের অবসরপ্রাপ্ত চিকিৎসক৷ টিকরবস্তি শ্রীমা সরণিতে বাড়ি তাঁদের৷ মৃত্যুকালে বয়স হয়েছিল ৭৪ বছর৷ রেখে গিয়েছেন স্ত্রী, দুই কন্যা, জামাতা সহ অসংখ্য পরিজনদের৷ অখণ্ডমণ্ডলীর শিষ্য হিসাবেও তিনি অনেকের কাছে বিশেষভাবে পরিচিত ছিলেন৷ তাঁর মৃত্যুতে তাঁরা শোকস্তব্ধ৷

July 15: Dr. Amaresh Das, who retired as a physician at Silchar Central Jail died on Wednesday after after being infected with coronavirus in Kolkata. He was 74. He is survived by his wife, two married daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

On last December, Dr Amaresh Das, who retired as a physician of Silchar Central Jail went to Kolkata along with his wife. His two daughters are married and settled in Kolkata. He was supposed to return back to Silchar in April. However, due to nationwide lockdown, Dr.Amaresh Das and his wife got stranded at his daughter’s house in Kolkata. Around ten days ago, Dr. Das went to stay with his younger daughter from the house of his elder daughter. Both the sister-in-law and father-in-law of his elder daughter are doctors.

Last week, the father-in-law of his elder daughter was suffering from fever. His swab test was done and he was tested COVID-19 positive. At once, the swab samples of all the family members were taken. The same of Dr. Amaresh Das and his wife were also taken. On Sunday, reports came and Dr. Amaresh Das was tested positive. At once, he was rushed to the hospital. According to his family sources, his condition deteriorated on Tueday night and he was shifted to ICU.

However, Dr. Das came out of danger on Wednesday morning. But suddenly towards the afternoon, his condition again became very critical. way2barak also published a news about his illness on Wednesday morning. Ultimately, at around 12.45 PM on Wednesday, Dr. Amaresh Das breathed his last.
