With spike in number of cases, another 450-bed COVID care centre set up in Kamrup

July 5: The number of novel coronavirus cases in Assam is rising drastically, especially during the last few days has compelled the health department to come up with new arrangements in order to accommodate more and more new COVID-19 patients. Guwahati is the worst effected in terms of spike in fresh coronavirus cases. On Sunday, Assam recorded 735 new cases, out of which 552 from Guwahati City alone.

It is in this backdrop that a new 450-bed COVID Care Centre has been set up at Havells India factory’s compound at NH31, Changsari in Kamrup district. It shall be functional soon, and will add up to the health infrastructure of Assam. On Sunday, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the facility along with Minister of State Pijush Hazarika and Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Rural.

At present, there are a total of 11,736 coronavirus cases in Assam, out of which, 4286 are active cases. Till now, 7433 patients were discharged in Assam. Assam has also recorded a total of 14 deaths.
