Rotary club of Hailakandi extends help to the needy
April 19: Rotary International is serving throughout the world for 115 years for mankind and humanity. In this crucial time of outburst of COVID-19 pandemic, the Rotarians from every corner of the world came forward to extend assistance to the common people.
On Sunday, to commemorate the 153rd birth anniversary of Paul Percival Harris, the founder President of Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Hailakandi distributed food materials among the unprivileged people of the locality. All the members of the club extended their financial support in this venture. On this occasion, Samiran Paul, President of the club informed that a sum of Rs 50,000 will be deposited to PM-CARES Fund through Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi on 20 April. The essential commodities were distributed following the norms of social distancing.
The Rotary Community Corps (RCC), EKOTA NGO also distributed home made masks among the people. Shankar Choudhury, the Chairman, Public image and President-elect 2020-2021 said that the club will arrange a community feast shortly with prior permission from the administration. Secretary Debashish Guhu Thakurta said that two of club members Harkishore Chanda and Bijoyini Bhattacharjee donated money to PM and CM Fund respectively in the battle against COVID-19. During distribution of relief materials, apart from members of EKOTA NGO, Past Presidents of Rotary Club Ashit Kumar Paul, Arup Halder, club members Tridibesh Chakraborty, Bibhabhusan Chakraborty also participated.
