COVID-19: Assam govt asks doctors, nurses & paramedics to register for voluntary service

April 7: Doctors, nurses and paramedics who wish to volunteer for the treatment of coronavirus positive patients and also the quarantined masses can now register with the government. Any doctor, nurse or paramedic who is residing in or outside the state can apply. People residing outside can help online (tele-medicine) while those present physically in the state can help with treatment and other support services. This was stated by state Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing on Monday.

The minister also said that medical personnel who actually work outside of Assam but are currently in the state may also apply. Those willing to volunteer their service were asked by the minister to log on to the portal volunteer.assamassistance.in and get themselves enlisted. He said that those outside the state can be of help for counselling online through platforms like Zoom App.
