All Angwanwadi centers in Assam closed till 29 March

'Take home ration' to be provided

March 16: As a precautionary measure to prevent outbreak of COIVD-19 (Corona virus) amongst children, lactating mothers and pregnant women of the state, the social welfare department, Government of Assam has decided to close all Angwanwadi centers till 29 March ,2020.

However, it was informed that supplementary nutrition will be provided to the guardians of the children not in the form of hot cooked meal, but as a take away ration (mainly rice) as a very special measure under an extra ordinary situation as it is mandatory to meet the nutritional standard specified under National Food Security Act, 2013.

Further, it was also mentioned that ‘take home ration’ to the lactating mothers and pregnant women will be continued without any disruption under Section 4(a) of National Food Security act,2013. This was stated in a press release issued from the office of Information and Public Relations,Barak Zone Assam.
