SEBA to conduct ‘Psychometric Test’ of students to analyse their areas of interest

January 28: For the first time in its history, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) is going to conduct the ‘Psychometric Test’. The test will be conducted after the (High School Leaving Certificate) HSLC exams.

The Board, with the help of the academic council of each district will conduct career guidance/psychometric test of the students who are appearing for the HSLC/AHM examinations. Apart from HSLC/AHM candidates, students from Class IX, X, XI, and XII can also apply for the test who desires to know about his or her capabilities.

The career guidance/psychometric test known as ‘Disha’ which will be conducted on 1 March in all HSLC/AHM exam centres and the students can apply for the examination till 6 February, 2020. The psychometric test is optional which would provide personalised personality report, information on career options and colleges. SEBA will also provide a two page report to the students of their examination that will help them choose the right stream.

The examination will have 182 questions and the students need to attempt the questions within 2 hours. Schools concerned can log in to the online portal sebaonline.org (Registration for aptitude test) by using the same password which was used while filling the examination forms. Interested candidates must fill up their forms through their schools.

Psychometric tests are a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals’ mental capabilities and behavioural style. Psychometric tests are designed to measure candidates’ suitability for a role based on the required personality characteristics and aptitude (or cognitive abilities). They identify the extent to which candidates’ personality and cognitive abilities match those required to perform the role.
