BVVBDF gets 1st position in voluntary blood donation in Assam

December 1: Blood donation is perhaps one of the major services that can be rendered for the society. When such type of social service is done voluntarily, its importance increases manifold. Such noble gesture definitely doesn’t go unnoticed and the society recognises these efforts at the opportune moment. A similar laurel has been achieved by Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum, Silchar. Since its very inception, the members of the forum are working relentlessly to spread awareness among the people regarding the concept of voluntary blood donation.

On the occasion of World AIDS Day,  Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika handed over the prestigious awardvof first position to Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum (BVVBDF) in Guwahtici. From a total of 60 camps this year, BVVBDF has collected 1928 units of blood. However, this is nothing new for the Forum. This is the 10th year that BVVBDF has earned the prestigious distinction of securing the 1st position in blood donation in the state.

In this connection, a delegation of BVVBDF went to Guwahati to receive the award. The delegation led by Dr. Manoj Kumar Paul also consisted of Karunamoy Paul, Sweata Roy, Barun Dasgupta, Ranjit Mishra, Shikta Paul, Ranjit Mishra, Sudip Roy, Shikta Paul, Ranadhir Pul, Sudip Roy, Subrata Kar and Ranadish Paul and Pankaj Paul among others.

Speaking to way2barak, Sabyasachi Rudra Gupta, a member of the Forum said, “It’s a proud moment for us all. Tomorrow, that is, on Monday the team of BVVBDF will return back to Silchar. We the members of the Forum, would greet the proud team and will be present at Silchar Railway Station.

Ashu Paul, another dedicated soldier of Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Family dedicated this honour to all the blood donors of Barak Valley. He expressed confidence that Barak Valley will continue to give leadership in this noble venture. He also informed that chapters of the Forum were formed at Dibrugarh, Kamrup, Sonitpur, Dhubri, Bongaigaon and Chirang districts.
