Nepal objects to inclusion of ‘Kalapani’ by India in its new map
November 7: A few days ago, India redrew the political map of Jammu and Kashmir after scrapping Article 370. India released the fresh maps of the newly created Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh and the map of India depicting these UTs. However, the Nepal government strongly objected to the inclusion of ‘Kalapani’ under the Indian Territory. The country’s foreign ministry said, “The Nepal government firmly believes that the Kalapani is a part of Nepal.”
While responding to this allegation by Nepal, Ravish Kumar, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India said, “Our map accurately depicts the sovereign territory of India. It has in no manner revised our boundary with Nepal. The boundary delineation exercise with Nepal is ongoing under existing mechanism.”
