Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha and Sanjeev Roy told the Jail Super that as per the verdict of the Supreme Court, no person can be detained for more than three years inside the Detention Camp. They also apprised the Jail Super that such kind of detainees who are economically weak shall be provided legal assistance so that they could appeal in the Foreigners’ Tribunal. Moreover, they also demanded that all such persons who are in the camp for more than 3 years must be immediately released.

Later on, while interacting with way2barak, Sanjeev Roy said, “We have got positive assurance from the Jail Super. Our MLA also seriously took up this issue and gave necessary instructions to the Jail Super as per the law of the land. We are hopeful that these people who are inside the Detention Camp for more than 3 years will be released soon.”
