Anand NGO brings smile on the faces of many by distributing clothes on Mahalaya

September 28: Waking up to the tune of Mahisasura Mardini on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, young boys and girls of Anand NGO came out and stood beside the poor and needy. Mahalaya marks the countdown for Durga Puja, the greatest festival of the Bengalis. However, there are many in our society who due to poverty are unable to experience the festivities. Keeping this is mind, Anand NGO since the past few years distribute clothes on this day.

This year too, Anand NGO distributed clothes among the financially deprived section of the society on the day of Mahalaya at Bazar Kolkata, Club Road, Silchar. Around 400 pieces of new clothes and more than 1500 pieces of old clothes in good condition was distributed. A huge crowd with a trace of joy in their eyes waited eagerly for their turn to get clothes just before Durga Puja.

Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul was the Chief Guest of the occasion. He gave away the clothes on behalf of Anand NGO. MLA Paul appreciated the move of the young brigade of Anand and also appealed to others to be a part of this unique initiative in order to bring smiles on the faces of the underprivileged.

In this endeavour, Anand NGO was actively cooperated by Saksham and Young Mind Organization (YMO ). Speaking to way2barak, Biswajit Paul, President of Anand said, “We believe that happiness maximizes when you make others happy and when it is during Durga Puja you must not leave this opportunity. Saksham NGO collaborated with Anand and performed a street play on the importance of donating eyes. YMO has made tremendous efforts to collect clothes and also helped us to connect to rural people.”

Siddhartha Sinha, Secretary of Anand said, ” We are indeed grateful to many who came forward and helped us in making this event a grand success. We acknowledge our thanks to Nawab for making arrangement for food for the people. Top Team MMA and police administration helped us in crowd management.”

On the same day, artists from renowned band ‘Madly Bangali performed some melodious numbers at Bazar Kolkata point, which further added glamour to the occasion. Adib Emon and many others sang some melodious songs.
