College Teacher celebrates his marriage anniversary by donating blood
September 20: Usually ceremonies like marriage day are celebrated along with the kith and kin by cutting cakes and throwing lavish parties. But breaking off the traditional way of celebration, Dr. Shayam Mamud celebrated his 6th marriage anniversary by donating blood.
On Friday evening, Dr. Shyam Mamud, Assistant Professor of the Department of History, Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond arrived at the Blood Bank of S.M. Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar along with his wife Mehbooba. Members of the Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum also reached the Civil Hospital to congratulate Dr. Shyam on his unique decision.
Later on speaking to way2barak, Dr. Shyam said, “Suddenly a thought came across my mind that in order to make my 6th marriage day memorable throwing parties for friends and relatives is not enough. This is a selfish way of celebration. But if I donate blood on this day, it would give me mental peace that that my blood will help another person to survive and to provide life to somebody else is perhaps the best way to celebrate any occasion.”
His wife Mehbooba also supported the decision of her husband and stood beside him at Civil Hospital during the process of blood donation. Ashu Paul, a devoted soldier of blood donation movement congratulated Dr. Shyam and his wife on their noble decision of celebrating their marriage day and wished them a prosperous and happy married life in social media.
