এটিএমে ফের দুষ্কৃতী হানা শিলচরে

মঙ্গলবার সাতসকালে শিলচর শহরের বুকে এক এটিএম হানার ঘটনা ঘটেছে। তবে পুলিশের চটজলদি ভূমিকায় বড়সড় ঘটনা প্রতিহত করা সম্ভব হয়েছে। জানা গেছে, এ দিন ভোর চারটা নাগাদ শহরের হাসপাতাল রোডে গোপীনাথ বিবাহ ভবনের উলটো দিকে থাকা ইউকো ব্যাঙ্কের এটিএমে হানা দেয় এক দুষ্কৃতী দল। একটি অটোরিক্সা নিয়ে দলটি অভিযানে এসেছিল। রাস্তায় অটো দাঁড় করিয়ে রেখে তারা বন্ধ এটিএম এর শার্টার ভাঙার চেষ্টা করে। তখন রাস্তা দিয়ে যাচ্ছিল রাঙ্গিরখাড়ি আউটপোস্টের রাইডিং স্কোয়াডের একটি দল। রাতভোরে এটিএম এর সামনে অটোরিক্সা দেখে তাদের সন্দেহ হয়। বিষয়টি দেখতে গিয়েই আসল রহস্য বেরিয়ে আসে। রাইডিং স্কোয়াডের দল দেখে দুষ্কৃতী দলটি পালিয়ে যাওয়ার চেষ্টা করে। কিন্তু হুড়োহুড়িতে তাদের অটোটি উলটে যায়। কিন্তু পুলিশের তাডা খেয়ে অটো ফেলে রেখেই দুষ্কৃতীরা পালিয়ে যায়। পরে পুলিশ অটোরিক্সাটি আটক করে থানায় নিয়ে যায়। এ ঘটনায় শহরে এটিএম নিরাপত্তা ফের প্রশ্নের মুখে এসে দাঁড়িয়েছে।

At the early hours of Tuesday morning, miscreants tried to loot ATM in the heart of Silchar town. However, instant action by the police foiled the attempt. On Tuesday morning, at around 4 AM, miscreants tried to loot money from the UCO Bank ATM, which is opposite Lakshmi Narayan Banquet Hall (old Gopinath Cinema Hall). They came on their mission in an auto rickshaw. The miscreants were trying to break open the shutter of the ATM, while the auto was parked beside the main road.

Coincidently, a team of Rider Squad under Rangirkhari Police Outpost was passing through that road. Seeing the auto rickshaw parked near the ATM at such an early hour raised their suspicion. So out of curiosity, when cops of the Rider Squad went near the auto, they could understand what was going on there. Sensing trouble, the miscreants tried to escape from the spot. However, in a hurry their auto overturned and then they somehow came out and escaped at a very fast pace. Later on, the auto was taken by the police to the police station. This incident has against raised the question of safety and security of the ATMs of Silchar.
