Delegation of District Congress Committee visits flood affected areas of Cachar
July 15: A delegation of District Congress Committee, Cachar visited the flood affected areas on Monday. They met with the flood victims and took stock of their present condition. They were briefed by the people of the low-lying areas where water entered into the houses of many. Later on, the delegation also met with Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar and apprised her about the problems faced by the flood victims.
Speaking to way2barak, Sanjeev Roy, Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee said, “Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has constituted district wise committee to visit and take stock of the flood affected areas of the state. As part of social commitment, the Congress felt it to be their moral duty to stand besides the flood affected people.”
The delegation was led by Pradip Kumar Dey, President of Cachar District Congress Committee (DCC) , Mohanlal Das-General Secretary DCC, Sariffujaman Laskar, Shraboni Das-Municipal commissioner, Rana Das, Jishu Suklobodyo and Subir Dutta Mazumder.
It needs mention here that on 12 July, 2019,.Assam Pradesh Congress Committee issued an order by which a number of District Level Committees were constituted to take stock of the flood affected areas of the state. The Karimganj-Hailakandi-Cachar District Committee formed for this purpose comprises of Sushmita Dev as the Team Leader assisted by other members, who are Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Rajdeep Goala, Siddique Ahmed, Ajit Singh, Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Rumi Nath, Kamrul Islam Choudhury, Sanjeev Roy, Aminul Rashid Choudhury, Concerned DCC Presidents and all frontal heads. Ramanna Barua-Secretary APCC was made the Convenor of this team.
