Fake doctor arrested from a medicine store at Hailakandi

July 4: ‘Dr.’ Biswajit Debnath puts a stethoscope round his neck just like any other physician and examine patients regularly in Priyobola Medical Store, which is near Hailakandi Civil Hospital. He writes prescriptions in the official pad of the civil hospital of the district. His patients hardly knew that this doctor was a fake one. However, it is difficult to carry out crime for eternity.

On Thursday, Hailakandi police along with Assistant Commissioner of Hailakandi, Mongve Engti on the basis of secret information conducted a raid at Priyobola Medical Store. Police arrested the fake doctor Biswajit Debnath. Fake prescription pads of S.K. Roy Civil Hospital, Hailakandi were also seized from the medical store. Biswajit used to write prescriptions in these fake pads. In this connection, an FIR was also lodged against the medical store.

People of the locality also expressed surprise when they came to know that a fake doctor was examining patients in their neighbourhood. Concerned citizens demanded stringent action against the fake doctor and the medicine store.
