Cachar District Administration issues prohibitory order ahead of counting
way2barak, April 30 :—-In a firm step towards ensuring a smooth, free and fair counting of votes, the District Administration has issued a strict order prohibiting the entry of several items inside the counting hall at ISTT, Ramnagar on May 4, 2026. The directive has been issued to maintain discipline, transparency and security during the entire counting process.
As per the order issued, no electronic devices including mobile phones, laptops, tablets, digital watches, earbuds, calculators, camera-enabled spectacles, camera pens, batteries, radios, transmitters or similar gadgets will be allowed inside the counting hall, except for those specifically authorized. The administration has emphasized that this measure is essential to prevent any form of interference or disruption.
The order further states that weapons and hazardous items such as knives, scissors, fireworks, matchboxes, arms, ammunition, lathis or any sharp or dangerous objects are strictly barred from the premises. Alongside this, personal belongings including wallets, purses, water bottles, outside food, umbrellas, large bags, containers, tiffin carriers, lighters and similar items are not permitted inside the hall.
In order to safeguard the integrity of the counting proceedings, the use of any recording equipment such as video cameras, sound recorders or other devices has also been prohibited, barring those officially authorized.
The administration has also imposed a complete ban on inflammable materials including petrol, diesel, alcohol, gas, chemicals, acids or any other substances that may pose a safety risk.
The order also prohibits all forms of tobacco products within the counting premises. Additionally, any items capable of amplifying sound, as well as political banners, flags, pamphlets, festoons, gulal or similar materials that could disturb the counting environment, will not be allowed.
The District Administration has called upon all concerned to adhere strictly to these instructions. It has been clearly stated that any violation of the order will invite appropriate legal action as per the provisions of law.
