National Lok Adalat in Cachar resolves hundreds of cases

way2barak, December 16:-The District Legal Services Authority, Cachar successfully organised the National Lok Adalat on December 13, 2025, marking a significant stride towards expeditious and amicable resolution of disputes in the district. Held across designated courts in Cachar, the day-long legal aid initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from judicial officers, advocates, concerned departments and the public, reinforcing faith in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
A wide spectrum of pending cases, including matters under the Motor Vehicles Act, civil and criminal disputes, matrimonial cases and MACT cases, were taken up during the Lok Adalat alongside pre-litigation matters such as bank recovery disputes and cases relating to telephone and electricity bills. Through consensus-driven proceedings, 252 pending cases were successfully disposed of out of 1,071 listed cases, resulting in settlements amounting to Rs 5,67,80,700. In addition, 394 pre-litigation cases were resolved out of 5,421 taken up, with a settlement amount of Rs 1,26,42,188, providing timely relief to litigants and reducing the burden on regular courts.
The National Lok Adalat once again proved to be an effective platform for ensuring access to speedy, cost-effective and amicable justice, particularly benefiting common citizens by saving time, resources and prolonged litigation. The settlements achieved reflect the growing trust of the people in Lok Adalat proceedings and the collective commitment of all stakeholders towards justice delivery.
