Narcotic substance amounting to rs 5 Cr seized at Silchar bypass, 3 Manipur resident arrested

way2barak, June 20: Based on a credible intelligence, Cachar Police launched today a special operation against the illegal transportation of narcotic substance at Silchar Bypass under the jurisdiction of Silchar Police Station and intercepted a Night Super passenger carrying bus bearing Regd No MN 01 AA 0484 coming from Sisipur, Manipur and apprehended three persons namely,

1)Md. Achouba, S/O Bashir Ahmed, Kwakta, Bishnupur, Manipur 2) Kamthiangsan Khongsai,26 yrs S/O Paosat Khongsai, Kangpokpi, Manipur 3) Saidur Rahman , S/O Md Nazir khan , Bishnupur, Manipur.

During thorough search police team recovered 3.095 kilograms suspected morphine concealed inside the packets of foreign made Burmese cigarettes. Also police team recovered 240 cartons of Burmese cigarettes and 560 Godzilla products.The price of the psychotropic substances along with other foreign made products is worth about Rs. 5 crores in the black market. The recovered narcotic substance has been seized in presence of independent witnesses.

During the examination conducted at the place of occurrence, drug detection kit showed positive results for morphine. During preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the psychotropic substance has been illegally transported from Sisipur, Manipur.

Further investigation into the matter has been on, says Numal Mahatta, SSP Cachar.
