way2barak, December 24: The Cachar District Commissioner’s office witnessed a groundbreaking moment on Monday as it hosted the Good Governance Dissemination Workshop in its state-of-the-art conference hall. This landmark event aimed at redefining administrative excellence, brought together a panel of distinguished speakers and stakeholders, serving as a dynamic platform for meaningful discussions on enhancing transparency, accountability, and innovation in public administration.

Inaugurating the workshop, Narsing Bey, District Development Commissioner of Cachar, delivered an inspiring welcome address that emphasized the significance of fostering collaborative efforts to achieve effective governance. A compelling keynote address by Madhumita Chaudhuri, a retired civil servant and the Chief Guest, enriched the event with insights drawn from her extensive administrative experience. Research scholar Gitanjali Sharma from Assam University emphasized the importance of community participation and transparency in governance. She championed the Right to Information (RTI) Act as a powerful tool for accountability, empowering citizens to demand fairness and efficiency in administrative processes.

The event also highlighted practical success stories with Ujjal Das, District Community Mobilizer of Cachar, presenting the achievements of “Mission Uttaran.” This flagship initiative has significantly improved maternal and infant health in tea garden regions through innovative programs like e-HBNC and VHSNC, which have revolutionized child care, hygiene, and nutrition standards.

Adding a critical dimension to the discussions, Debraj Paul Choudhury underscored the role of Daily MIS (Management Information System) reports in fostering accountability and operational efficiency. He emphasized systematic reviews and adherence to timelines as practical steps for achieving better governance outcomes.
