One Head Teacher of Nilambazar arrested for bribe
way2barak, 11 December: A complaint was received at Directorate of Vigilance and Anti- Corruption, Assam alleging that Sushanta Nath, Head Teacher of 1148 Azad LP School, Bagirkhola, Nilambazar under Sríbhumi district had demanded Rs. 2,000 as bribe from the complainant for getting his MACPS (Time Scale) work done through the concerned BEEO. It may be mention that Sushanta Nath is also a Block Secretary of South Sribhumi Chapter of Primary Teacher’s Association.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached this Vigilance Directorate for taking necessary legal action against the above-mentioned public servant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid today on 11-12-2024 by a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption near immersion ghat, Sribhumi town. Sushanta Nath, Head Teacher was caught red handed immediately after he accepted Rs. 2,000 as demanded bribe from the complainant. The tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and has been seized accordingly in the presence of independent witnesses.
On finding sufficient evidence against the accused public servant, he has been arrested by the team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam.
In this connection, a case has been registered in ACB Police Station on 11/12/2024 vide ACB P.S. Case No. 103/2024 under Section 61(2)(a) of BNS R/W Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
Necessary legal follow up actions are underway, the CPRO Assam Police informs.
