Congress releases list of star campaigners in Assam

March 26: In a letter addressed to the Secretary of Election Commission of India, Mukul Wasnik, General Secretary of Indian National Congress mentioned the names of 40 Star Campaigners who will be campaigning for the party candidates throughout Assam.

The letter signed on Monday stated that as per 77(1) of Representation of People’s Act 1951, the names of 40 star campaigners were included who would be campaigning for the 1st and 2nd phases of general elections to the Lok Sabha from Assam.

The prominent names in the list of Star Campaigner of Congress Party for Assam includes Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Gulam Nabi Azad, Sachin Pilot, Navjot Singh Sidhu,Mohd. Azharuddin, Sushmita Dev, Kamalakhya Dey Purakayastha, Siddique Ahmed among others.  Assam will go to polls in three phases.
