KV ONGC Srikona Celebrates Rabindra Jayanti and International Mother’s Day

Way2barak, May 10 : The celebration of Rabindra Jayanti and Mother’s Day was organized at Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Srikona to commemorate the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and to honour the spirit of motherhood, with verve and enthusiasm, following the traditions of the Vidyalaya .
The event commenced with the offering of floral tribute to the Bard of Bengal, by Vidyalaya Principal Shri Sandeep Kumar Sharma, followed by a beautiful musical rendition by the school choir, honouring the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore.

Rabindranath Tagore made significant contributions in the fields of literature, poetry, philosophy and art. A multifaceted personality, a true intellectual and one of the greatest and best – known ambassadors of Indian culture, Tagore’s name is synonymous with humanity and harmony across cultures and nations. Cultural performances including recitation, Rabindra sangeet, Rabindra nritya, etc. were also held on the occasion, with students representing the ethos of the auspicious celebration, showcasing his multifaceted talent and deep philosophical insights. The performances were not only entertaining but also educational, as they familiarized the audience with Tagore’s literary masterpieces.

The day also witnessed an early observance of Mother’s Day in the Vidyalaya. Students expressed their love and gratitude towards their mothers through heartfelt poems, songs, and dance .The mothers of students were also a part of celebration. The highlight of the day, however, remained the unique practice of ‘Matripujan’, wherein the students performed the ritual of paying respect to the mothers by washing their feet. The verdant ground of the Vidyalaya, thus reverberated with the ethos of Indianness. This segment of the event was a touching tribute to the unconditional love and sacrifices of mothers in nurturing their children. The progamme came to a close with a vote of thanks offered by the Vidyalaya Principal.

The institution also hosted the Cluster Level Workshop on NIPUN Bharat Mission for all the KVs under Silchar Cluster. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Mr. P.I.T Raja. The workshop focused on providing Foundational Literacy and Numeracy skills to assist teachers in making learning a joyous and engaging process for the students.

The celebration as well as the NIPUN Bharat Workshop, remained a testament to Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Srikona’s commitment to integrating the principles of NEP 2020 into its academic and cultural ethos. By honoring Rabindranath Tagore and celebrating motherhood, the school reiterated its dedication to promoting India’s cultural heritage and fostering holistic development among students and instill a sense of pride and respect for India’s rich cultural heritage among its students.
