Opposition parties have no issue against MNF govt : Zoram

way2barak, Oct 10 : Mizoram Chief Minister and ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) President Zoramthanga claimed that opposition parties do not have reasonable issues to blame the MNF led government, which is in power since 2018.

Zoramthanga while addressing the party workers at the MNF party office ‘Mizo Hnam Run’ in Aizawl said the opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) do not have issues to blame the ruling party (MNF) and that’s why it is asking people to experiment with a new political system it has preached.

“The MNF not only from 2018, it governed the state for many years earlier and people already experienced the party’s good governance. There is no scope for any kind of experiment,” the MNF supremo said.

The ZPM, which won eight seats in the 2018 assembly polls emerged as the main opposition party replacing Congress, would play a vital role in the November 7 elections to the 40-member Mizoram assembly.

Zoramthanga further said that the party (MNF) since 1966 has truly fought for the independence and all round welfare of Mizos despite allegations from some quarters that the MNF did not really fight for independence.

“Many martyrs’ cemeteries all across the state are a manifestation of the MNF fighting for independence of MIzos and no other party has such sacrifice for the cause of the Mizos,” he observed.

The MNF led by Zoramthanga since last month has started an election campaign and the party already announced candidates for all 40 seats with the 79-years-old political leader ( Zoramthanga) seeking re-election from his existing constituency Aizawl East-I for the record seventh time.

The MNF also fielded all the incumbent legislators except Home Minister Lalchamliana, who opted not to contest and give room to youngsters this time.

The party also brought in 15 new faces.

The electoral dark horse in Mizoram ZPM has announced names of 39 candidates and is yet to field candidates in the Chakma dominated Tuichawng seat.

BJP and Congress also announced to contest in all the seats on their own and they would soon announce the names of the candidates.
