Commerce Fest Celebrated in Assam University

way2barak, Feb 7 : The department of Commerce, Assam University, Silchar organised the Commerce Fest 2023 on 6th & 7th February. Started in the year 2013, the Commerce Fest is a two-day annual event of the department where various academic and cultural events are organised. The department also celebrates and acknowledges each year the contributions made by eminent personalities in the field of commerce. The first day programme was held in the Bipin Chandra Pal auditorium in a befitting manner. The inaugural ceremony started at around 11 AM in the morning.

Vice chancellor in-charge, Finance officer, distinguished guests, professors and students of the university also attended the inaugural function. All the dignitaries lit the lamp and the programme was started with a welcome song by the students. Professor Parag shil Head, Department of Commerce delivered the welcome address, where he mentioned about the importance of arranging such a programme. Commerce Forum In-charge, Dr. Soma Roy Dey Choudhury also addressed the audience. Two guests of Honour, Professor Jaynal Ud-din Ahmed, Professor Management, NEHU, Tura campus and Ashes Bhattacharjee, Retired Professor and Former head Department of Commerce, Gurucharan College, Silchar have been honoured with mementos for their immense contribution in the field of commerce education.

Followed by this, Ashes Bhattacharjee shared his thoughts with the audience. Guest of Honour, Professor Jaynal Ud-din Ahmed also delivered the Commerce Day lecture where Ashes Bhattacharjee acted as the chairperson of the session. The inaugural ceremony came to an end with the vote of thanks being delivered by Dr. Soumendra Bhattcharjee, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce and the singing of the National Anthem.
In the second half of the programme, the activities included Debate Competition, Singing Competition, dance Competition and poetry recitation competition.

Students from various departments across the university took part in these competitions. The day 1 of the fest ended well with the Music Show by the local music band Erruption. Various cultural events such as dance performances by Nirantar group, dramma, songs, Mr. and Miss Commerce are also lined up for the second day of celebration.
