Assam University likely to introduce CUET for admission in all its affiliated colleges from 2023-24 session

CUET-UG 2023 to be conducted between 21 & 31of May, 2023

way2barak, Jan.3: In all probability, Assam University is contemplating to introduce the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUET) for seeking admission in all its affiliated colleges from 2023-24 academic session. A source in the University revealed that as per directives of UGC, Assam University will take a final call on this matter soon and issue necessary directives.

It needs mention here that Assam University during the academic year 2022-23 introduced CUET for students seeking admission to 7 integrated UG Courses. These 7 courses are:

  • Integrated M.Sc in Computer Science
  • Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed
  • Bachelor in Performing Arts (B.P.A)
  • Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science ( B.Pharm)
  • Bachelor of Visual Arts ( B.V.A)
  • Integrated BA.LLB ( Honours)
  • Integrated Masters in Social Works (M.S.W) i.e BSW 6 semesters leading to MSW 4 semesters

It was, however, notified then that the admission to TDC courses in the affiliated colleges of Assam University will continue as usual. Students seeking admission to TDC courses in affiliated colleges will not have to appear in CUET. But if sources are to be relied upon, then from 2023-24 academic session, students will have to clear the CUET to seek admission in the affiliated colleges of Assam University.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET- UG / PG. It needs mention here that the application process for CUET-UG 2023 is likely to be started in the first week of February 2023. The examination will be conducted between the 21 and 31of May, 2023.

CUET-PG 2023 is expected to be held in the first/ second week of June 2023, and the tentative schedule of the same will likely be announced next week by the NTA. Moreover, the NTA is identifying around 1000 test centers across the country, out of which 450 – 500 centres will be used on each examination day.

The salient features of CUET- UG/PG 2023 are:

• The number of subjects and pattern of question papers will remain the same. A candidate can take as many as 6 Domain subjects in addition to one/ two languages and the General Test.
• Medium of Examination: Any of the following languages – Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

• Results of CUET-UG are planned to be announced in the third week of June 2023 and those of CUET-PG in the first week of July 2023.
