CM Dr. Sarma visits Rang Ghar and Tai Museum at Sivasagar

CM takes stock of beautification and expansion projects

May 2: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on the second day of his two dayvisit to Sivasagar district, today  visited the historic Rang Ghar and reviewed a beautification project with added amenities. The Chief Minister said that the Assam Government plans to take up steps for beautification of the historic site with better amenities for visitors to add more value to the tourism potential of the district.

Rang Ghar, which reflects the rich architecture of the Ahom Kingdom has immense architectural and historical value, the Chief Minister said adding that Government of Assam plans to acquire 78 bigha land adjacent to Rang Ghar to execute the proposed plan of beautification of the iconic site. He also said that the project will include several open stages for cultural performances, guest house, amusement facilities, landscaping etc. and is proposed to be launched within this year.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Tai Museum at Sivasagar today. Dr. Sarma during the visit discussed with concerned officials about an expansion project of the museum. He said that the state government has planned to give a face-lift to the museum with larger area for display, more repository of artefacts and manuscripts and Conference hall etc. He also asked the concerned authorities to prepare project details and complete all necessary formalities so that implementation of the improvement and expansion of the museum can be started within this year.

It is to be mentioned that the Tai Museum, located on the bank of Sivasagar tank, displays artefacts of glorious Ahom era. Manuscripts, swords and other assets on display bear testimony of the rich heritage of the Ahom days. Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Revenue Minister Jogen Mohan, MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, MLAs Akhil Gogoi, Sushanta Borgohain and Taranga Gogoi, Sivasagar DC Megha Nidhi Dahal, Commissioner & Special Secretary PWD Raj Chakraborty were present during the visit of the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Sarma today also visited historic Sivadol and offered prayers seeking blessings of lord Shiva for peace, prosperity and well-being of all.
