Library Literacy Programme conducted by Radhamadhab College at Kalyan Ashram

Feb. 9: A Library Literacy Programme was conducted by Bipin Chandra Memorial Library, Radhamadhab College, Silchar with the support of the Library Committee under the aegis of IQAC of the college in Kalyan Ashram, Silchar on Wednesday where books, copies and other stationery items were distributed amongst the children of the ashram.

An interactive session was also undertaken on the occasion where Dr Sonali Choudhury, Librarian of the college cum Convenor of the Library Committee delivered a motivational speech to the children along with some productive interactions to inspire them about books, library and other informative resources.

It needs mention here that the Radhamadhab College library conducts such type of Literacy activities every year as a part of its community service programme. The library foundation was laid along with the establishment of the college in 1971. Currently the library has 18,000 books along with a large number of online resources, journals and also a Digital Library of its own.

The library provides facilities like OPAC, wifi, book bank, online memberships, smart card, etc. The librarian thanked the Principal of the college Dr Debashish Roy for his approval to conduct the programme. She also expresses her gratitude towards the IQAC Coordinators of the college Sudarshan Gupta and Arunabha Bhattacharjee for their wholehearted support and the members of the Library Committee for enabling to make the programme a success.
