Earthquakes measuring 3.5 & 3.8 strikes Northeast including Barak Valley on Monday

Jan. 17: Two earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 and 3.8 hit parts of the Northeast region at 2.11 AM and 2.39 AM on Monday. The first earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale originated in Tripura, whereas the second one measuring 3.8 occurred in Manipur.

As per National Center for Seismology (NCS), it was stated, “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.5, Occurred on 17-01-2022, 02:11:03 IST, Lat: 24.70 & Long: 92.72, Depth: 35 Km ,Location: 67km ENE of Dharmanagar, Tripura.” The tremours were also felt in parts of Barak Valley.

In another tweet NCS stated, “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.8, Occurred on 17-01-2022, 02:39:25 IST, Lat: 25.16 & Long: 93.90, Depth: 20 Km ,Location: 38km N of Imphal, Manipur, India.” However, there were no report of any casualties.
