Barak Valley registers 465 Covid +ve cases on Tuesday, 89 discharged

There are 1,030 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

Jan 11: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually increasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased a lot. A total of 465 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 89 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 1,030 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 232 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 269 positive cases   (It was 120 on Monday)
  • Karimganj: 87 positive cases (It was 52 on Monday)
  • Hailakandi: 109 positive cases (It was 60 on Monday)

The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Tuesday at 8.10 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 200-mark. A total of 269 persons were found positive in the district on 11 January. Also, 58 patients were discharged (09 from hospital & 49 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 609, out of which, 528 are in home isolation whereas 81 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Monday, 120 persons were found positive in Cachar.

 

As per the updated data, a total of 1,833 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 163 persons were found positive, whereas 106 were detected positive out of 413 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 21,282 whereas during this phase, 20,451 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 10 January to 12 noon of 11 January, 2022.

There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 10 January to 5 PM on 11 January) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 11 January, there were 35 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 06 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 09 were discharged. Further, 05 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre and 45 opted for home isolation.

On Tuesday, Hailakandi registered 109 (108 RAT & 01 RT-PCR) new COVID-19 cases. The district has altogether has 229 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 896 RAT tests and 33 RT-PCR tests were done. No patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 8,175 (both 1st & 2nd wave).

As of now, a total of 4,519 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 60 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Monday. Till date, 51 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.  A total of 574 persons were vaccinated on Tuesday.

There was a sharp rise in the number of Covid patients in Karimganj district. Karimganj registered 87 fresh COVID case on Tuesday. The district has currently 192 active COVID cases, while 31 patients were discharged on Tuesday. 1,060 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 52 persons were detected positive in Karimganj on Monday.

On Tuesday, out of 49,840 tests, 2,837 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 6,31,776. The positivity rate in the state is 5.69 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 870 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 02 died in the state due to COVID-19. The deceased are from Nalbari & Sonitpur. The death toll in the state stands at 6,185. The recovery rate is 97.34 percent. Also, 449 patients were discharged during the day. At present, there are 9,253 active cases in the state.
