Covid in Assam: 12 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya & 3 at Dibrugarh Univ test Covid positive

Dec.29: The daily Covid cases in Assam has decreased considerably, and since then educational institutions in the state has been reopened. However, recently 12 persons have been detected Covid-19 positive at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Titabor. Out of the 12 who tested positive for COVID-19, 9 are students and 3 staff. meanwhile, one was infected with the virus on December 25, 3 on December 26 and 3 on December 27. The total number of positive cases in the school is now 19. As such, the authorities of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Titabor has decided to halt the ongoing classes till the situation is brought under control.

Meanwhile, in another incident in the state, 3 African students of Assam’s Dibrugarh University have tested positive for COVID-19, and their samples have been sent for whole genome sequencing. Dibrugarh University International Affairs Executive Officer Arinjit Hazarika said an M Com student from Comoros recently returned from his country and tested positive for COVID-19. His two roommates, hailing from Nigeria and Lesotho, in the international hostel also tested positive for COVID-19, and the trio was isolated in the hostel itself, which houses 22 foreign students.
