ফের যুবকের মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার শিলচরে, বলি নেশার
Again a dead body recovered at Silchar, victim of drugs!

২৮ ডিসেম্বর : ফের শহরের কেন্দ্রস্থল থেকে মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার। তবে এটি খুন বা আত্মহত্যা নয়, বরং ড্রাগস সেবনের ফলেই মৃত্যু হয়েছে আনুমানিক ২৪ বছরের এক যুবকের। শুক্রবার সকালে শিলচর নাজিরপট্টির ওরিয়েন্টাল সিনেমা হল পয়েন্ট থেকে পুলিশ মৃতদেহটি উদ্ধার করেছে। ড্রাগস সেবনের ফলেই যে যুবকের মৃত্যু হয়েছে, প্রাথমিক তদন্তে সে ব্যাপারে প্রায় নিশ্চিত পুলিশ। এ খবর লেখা পর্যন্ত যুবকটির পরিচয় জানা যায়নি।

শুক্রবার সকালে ওরিয়েন্টাল পুলিশ পয়েন্টের ধার ঘেঁষে থাকা আবর্জনার পাশে এক যুবককে পড়ে থাকতে দেখে কয়েকজন পথচারী পুলিশকে খবর দেন। এরপরই যুবকের মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার করে পুলিশ শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজের মর্গে পাঠিয়ে দেয়। পরিচয় জানার জন্য সেখানে ৭২ ঘণ্টা মৃতদেহ রাখা হবে।

এ দিকে, পুলিশের একটি সূত্র জানায়, গতকালও একইভাবে এই যুবক মাত্রাতিরিক্ত ড্রাগস নিয়ে এখানেই পড়েছিল। পুলিশের ভাষ্য অনুযায়ী ড্রাগস সেবনের আগে যুবকটি তার এক বন্ধুর সঙ্গে ঝগড়াও করে। পুলিশ তাদের পিছু ধাওয়া করলে ওই বন্ধুটি পালিয়ে যায়। কিন্তু সে অতিরিক্ত ড্রাগস সেবন করায় পালানোর ক্ষমতা হারিয়ে ফেলেছিল। ফলে সে রাস্তাতেই পড়ে যায়। তখন অ্যাম্বুলেন্স ডেকে তাকে মেডিক্যাল নিয়ে যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করে দেয় পুলিশ। বৃহস্পতিবার জ্ঞান হারিয়ে পড়ে যাবার পর যুবকের ভিডিও দেখুন—

কিন্তু শুক্রবার একই স্থান থেকে এই যুবকের মৃতদেহটি পুলিশ উদ্ধার করল। সঙ্গে মৃতদেহের পাশ থেকে একটি সিরিঞ্জ ও বোতল উদ্ধার করেছে পুলিশ।

এ দিকে, এই জনবহুল এলাকায় এ ধরনের ড্রাগস সেবনের মাত্রা বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ায় এলাকার বাসিন্দা ও ব্যবসায়ীরা পুলিশ বিভাগের উদাসীনতাকে দায়ী করেছে। তাঁরা বলেন, ব্যস্ততম এই পয়েন্টে ৪-৫টি সিসি ক্যমেরা লাগানো রয়েছে। কিন্তু আদৌ এগুলো কাজ করছে কি না, তা কেউ বলতে পারেন না।

প্রতি রাতে এভাবে এই পয়েন্ট ও তার আশপাশ এলাকায় ড্রাগস সেবনকারীরা নেশার কবলে চলে যায়। তাদের দিকে খেয়াল করার সময় কারও নেই। জনৈক ব্যক্তি বলেন, এসব কারণেই কিছুদিন আগেও এক ব্যবসায়ীর টাকা ছিনতাই হয়েছে।

December 28: Again a dead body was recovered from the heart of Silchar town. However, this seems to be an incident of drug abuse rather than that of murder or suicide. On Friday morning, a dead body of a youth aged around 24 years was seen to lie in the footpath at Narizpatty point. Police recovered the body and sent to Silchar Medical College and hospital for autopsy. Preliminary investigation revealed that excessive intake of drugs has cost the life of the person. Till the writing of this news, the identity of the person has not been ascertained.

On Friday morning, some passers-by noticed a boy lying on the side of a footpath just besides a heap of garbage at Central Road point and informed the police. Police came and found that the boy was dead. His body will be kept in the morgue as per norms for identification.

Meanwhile, police sources revealed that on yesterday, the same boy was found lying on the footpath there under the influence of drugs. It was learnt that before taking drugs, the boy had a quarrel with one of his friends. When police tried to nab them, the other boy fled away. But the boy whose dead body was found a day later was under the influence of the drugs and so he could not run and fell down on the road. Police then called an ambulance and sent him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Watch the video of that boy when he fell down unconscious….

However, on Friday morning, police recovered the dead body of this youth from the same spot where he was found the previous day. A syringe and a small glass bottle were also recovered from near his body.

Meanwhile, the local residents and merchants have alleged that the intake of drugs in that area has become a daily phenomenon and held the police responsible for this. They said that in this busy part of the town around 4 to 5 CCTV cameras are installed, but they do not know whether these are functioning or not. Every night, such type of incidents of intake of drugs by youth can be seen in this point. None has the time or intention to take care of all these anti-social activities. A merchant of the area was heard to tell that due to lack of proper administration, another merchant was robbed off his money a few days ago. He said, “Are we living in a guardian less town?”
