Tripura Congress Chief Pijush Biswas withdraws resignation after intervention by Sonia Gandhi
Aug.21: All not seems to go well with the Congress. On Saturday, Tripura Congress state President Pijush Biswas resigned and announced to quit politics “for the time being”. However, Biswas, withdrew his resignation later during the day following the request of the party high command, Sonia Gandhi.
Congress leader and Tripura in-charge Ajoy Kumar spoke to Biswas and requested him to withdraw his resignation letter. Kumar, after talking with Biswas, issued a statement saying that he would visit Tripura on August 29 and would discuss with him to sort out the party’s organisational matter. Sources in the Congress party said that Biwas was unhappy as the party high command despite repeated requests did not constitute or did not allow the state leaders to reconstitute district and block level organisational committees.
A few days ago, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venugopal in a press release issued on Wednesday said “Congress president has appointed Dr Ajoy Kumar as AICC in-charge of Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura with immediate effect.”
