Former CM of Haryana, Chautala appears for Class X exam at 86
Aug 20: Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo sat for his Class X compartment examination in English of the Haryana Board of School Education at Sirsa on Wednesday. The former Chief Minister passed his Class 10 exam from the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) in 2017, while he was serving a jail sentence ordered by the Supreme Court over his role in a teachers’ recruitment scam. The 86-year-old Om Prakash Chautala reportedly finished the exam in two hours and left.
The Department of Education had accepted OP Chautala’s demand for a substitute writer since he had an injury in his hand. A class 9 girl student was allowed as a writer to help the 86-year-old. He appeared in his Class 10 examination from the NIOS in 2017. He had secured 53.4% marks with Urdu, Science, Social Studies and Indian Culture and Heritage as the subjects. However, a backlog in the English language paper hampered his final results.
