9 passengers of Cachar arrive by train from Chennai, swab samples sent at SMCH
May 15: Chennai-Bhairavi Shramik Express entered Badarpur Railway Station with 46 passengers on Friday morning. All arrangements were already put in place at Badarpur Railway station by the respective district administration. All these passengers got stuck due to lockdown for almost two long months. Out of the 46 passengers, 7 belonged to Cachar district.
District Health Officials of Cachar informed that the 9 passengers were brought to Silchar ISBT by bus from Badarpur Railway Station. All of them were screened and their swab samples were also taken and sent for test at Silchar Medical college and Hospital (SMCH). As per the new SOP issued by the state government, divyang persons, minors, pregnant women and elderly persons above 75 years are to be sent for home quarantine after collection of swab samples. Out of the 9 passengers, one of them was a divyang person, who was sent for strict home quarantine as per protocol, whereas eights others were kept under institutional quarantine.
Meanwhile, the Karimganj administration received 37 passengers who came by the train and also collected their swab samples. The samples were sent to SMCH for COVID-19 test. All the 37 passengers were placed under strict quarantine.
